QUEST Research

Members of QUEST are active qualitative researchers.

Projects with a methods focus that they are carrying out include:

The Pedagogy of Methodological Learning
A three-year research project funded by the ESRC as part of a package of research by the National Centre for Research Methods. It is intended to promote pedagogical development for advanced social science research methods.  The project deploys three complementary components: expert panel method, including interviews with a panel of international experts in research methods; teaching; diary methods and longitudinal analysis by and with researchers at different stages of doctoral and post-doctoral research careers about their methods learning experiences; and case studies of methodological and pedagogical innovation, including video stimulated recall and reflection by researchers, teachers and learners in response to specific methods training events.

Working Across Qualitative Longitudinal Studies: A Feasibility Study Looking at Care and Intimacy
A three year research project funded by the ESRC as part of a package of research by the National Centre for Research Methods. The project aims to extend and develop secondary analytic practice in working with complex longitudinal data, across existing data from several qualitative longitudinal studies. It will explore the feasibility of bringing together diverse temporal data sets using the ESRC Timescapes project data as an example. Analysis will focus on the substantive topic of care and intimacy to consider how we can answer questions about shifts in practices of care and intimacy over time and across the life course.
